The steel structure is underway just a month after the erection of the tower crane at 2222 Market Street in Center City West in Philadelphia, Philadelphia YIMBY reports. Designed by Gensler, the structure will rise 318 ft, 20 stories high and will feature a modern mix of glass, metal, and stone cladding. The building is being developed by Parkway Commercial Properties, which used to operate the parking at the location. In April, the source reported that the tower crane was set into the foundation and most of the excavation was complete. The foundation walls were underway at that time, with a few sections already poured and dried. Additional concrete was poured on the south side of the site, starting the construction of the core. The steel beams currently reach two stories with the floor plates not yet complete. The space for the future lobby is evident, and the next few floors will cantilever over the future plaza. The building may be more than halfway up by fall, the source reports.
