Eaton Corp. has expanded its C440 and XT electronic overlays and now offers motor protection at higher amperages. Designed for global applications, the wider range of electronic relays provides an integrated starter solution and eliminates the need for an external current transformer, reducing overall space and equipment requirements. With a compact design, the relays are easy to install, maintain and configure. An LED display on the device provides its status, helping maintenance personnel determine if the device and motor are operating properly.
The overlays can integrate into plant management systems, allowing network monitoring and providing asset protection. In addition, they feature integral communications capabilities, which allow the relays to easily integrate with customers’ preferred industrial network.

Energy Usage Monitor For Escalators
CAS DataLoggers, Inc.’s Accsense A1-10 wireless-current data loggers can monitor and record current on an escalator’s drive motors as part of determining power consumption. This wireless data-logger pod is designed to connect to multiple 4-20-mA inputs (six total), allowing an increase in the number of sensors per pod and reducing the user’s cost per measurement. Users can connect a data logger to a three-phase current transducer with a 4-20-mA output for each phase or use a speed converter to convert the motor speed or speed of the escalator into a 4-20-mA signal, which the pod will then read. The company provides the Accsense Online Calibration Coefficients Utility (www.accsense.com/coeffs/coefficients.html) to scale installed sensors, so they can be read in the proper engineering units. It also offers navigation support.
