Otis UK & Ireland Unveils Digital Showroom.
Otis UK & Ireland (UKI) held a grand opening for its digital showroom located in company UKI headquarters in the Vantage London building in West London on October 4. Engineered and designed by Otis, the 9.2-m2 space allows visitors to interact with Otis digital products and virtual reality (VR) technology to explore lift car designs and specifications in real time. Otis UKI Engagement Manager Amy Botterell said:
“The design concept of the showroom is an Otis lift itself, designed and built by our own employees. It is positioned in the centre of our offices adjacent to our social breakout area. The showroom is accessed through Otis panoramic elevator doors from our factories. Users access the exhibition space with Compass® 360 and eCallTM Pro, showcasing our seamless call technology.”
When the OEM described the showroom on social media in October, it was met with great enthusiasm, with LinkedIn respondents describing it as cool, exciting, innovative and futuristic.
When the OEM described the showroom on social media in October, it was met with great enthusiasm, with LinkedIn respondents describing it as cool, exciting, innovative and futuristic. “[Otis Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer] Abbe Luersman wasn’t kidding about Otis going all-in on VR!” said Dave Geoffrey of computer software company Axonify of Waterloo, Canada.
The space supports networking and collaboration among Otis colleagues as they further familiarize themselves with the latest company tools and technology. This, Botterell said, helps ensure that UKI architects and consultants have the right information at the right time for their projects. In addition to being a test center for clients and field teams of Compass 360, eCall Pro and the eViewTM in-car display, showroom capabilities include:
- Supporting customers and stakeholders in the design stages of their projects
- Using the Otis Create design tool to explore solutions and specifications of specific projects
- Selecting finishes and hall fixtures
- Visualizing final lift specs using VR
- Issuing emails to clients with drawings and spec documents
