The pandemic has induced drastic changes in the dynamics of elevator and escalator manufacturing, product designs, features and control functions to suit the changing needs of the hygiene-conscious population. As the industry’s leading trade fair, the International Elevator and Escalator Expo (IEE Expo), along with the E2 Forum conference, aims to attract real estate developers and builders to witness the latest technologies and trends in vertical transportation (VT).

Digitalization is revolutionizing the vertical mobility space, and with it, the elevator business is transforming. As elevator manufacturers integrate new digital capabilities that create safe, seamless and contactless building experiences, developers today can provide exceptional passenger experience while, at the same time, keep their elevator maintenance and repairs in check.

Amid hygiene concerns and digitalization, remote monitoring services in elevators and escalators will gain traction in the post-COVID-19 world, whereas new-age features, such as a central dashboard, human flow-predicting operation management systems and rapid installation methods, will allow seamless operations and monitoring, and redefine the customer experience.

The first post-pandemic IEE Expo edition, to be held from February 16-18, 2022, at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, aims to provide an ideal platform for meaningful dialogue and business collaborations. Through this new edition, IEE Expo aims to provide top-quality technological advancements in VT, facilitate an international exchange of technical know-how, highlight the growing demand for VT facilities due to smart cities and urbanization and support the government and other associations working toward the development of Smart Cities.

Amid the emerging opportunities in VT, the trade fair will offer builders and contractors a chance to witness top-of-the-line showcases that will steer future trends in elevators and escalators. The trade fair will showcase the latest innovations from exhibitors hailing from India, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Turkey.

Major elevator component are slated to be part of this new edition, and many shared their expectations about the upcoming event.

Elaborating on his experience at IEE Expo, Bilal Kiliç, foreign trade director, Çelikray Elevator Guide Rails, said:

“The IEE Expo has been a significant business platform for us. It has helped us connect with new people, expand our relationships and gain insights into the demands of the industry. We are ready to participate and promote our products at IEE Expo Mumbai 2022.”

Additionally, companies like Bharat Bijlee, DATIS, Esquire, Excella, Expedite Automation, NBSL India and Tectronics, among others, will also be presenting their latest product lines at the event.

IEE Expo 2022 has drawn strong support from industry associations, including Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (CREDAI-MCHI), AILUF (All India Lift Upliftment Federation), COSMA (Control Panel and Switchgear Manufacturers’ Association), DEA (Delhi Elevator Association), GEIA (Gujarat Elevator Industrial Association), INBAC (Integrated Building Automation Community), KEMA (Karnataka Elevator Manufacturers’ Association), KHEMA (Karnataka Hydraulic Elevator Manufacturers’ Association), TEEA (Telangana Elevator and Escalator Association) and Elevator Innovation, as the Educational Partner.

Pankaj Trivedi, honorable secretary, AILUF, commented:

“AILUF is pleased to extend its support to the IEE Expo, which over the years has proven itself to be a crucial business point for elevator and escalator companies throughout the world. Currently, we are strongly working as a virtual platform for the Indian lift segment, and are dedicated to safe lifts and globally competitive manufacturing in India. As infrastructure development, real estate and metro projects are heading full-steam ahead, the industry needs a strong platform to bring attention toward the new technological advances that have taken place in the elevator space. The VT fraternity is eagerly looking forward to re-congregate at IEE Expo 2022 after the long halt of the pandemic.”

IEE Expo is the ultimate sourcing point where buyers can witness the latest technologies and conveniences that modern elevators are offering to meet the evolving demands of users. The exhibition has positioned itself as a networking platform for industry professionals across the country.

The last edition of IEE Expo, held in Mumbai in 2020, gained footfall of a total 7,512 buyers from 27 states and union territories. Around 3,591 of these buyers converged from the state of Maharashtra, while the remaining 3,921 visiting the fair were from Assam, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, New Delhi, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, West Bengal and other major states.
