Dr. Santosh R.S. tells of GMV India’s role in providing elevators and components.

Dr. Santosh R.S., CEO and executive director of elevator company GMV India Pvt. Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of GMV SPa, Italy, visited Dubai’s Toshiba Elevator Middle East (TELME) headquarters in November 2021 to discuss future developments. Santosh said that GMV is a global, more-than-60-year leading provider of elevator technology that operates or provides components for more than 810,000 lifts in multiple countries. Some 30% of the world’s hydraulic elevators are equipped with GMV components, Santosh said.

He said GMV has R&D technology focusing on innovations, complete lift packages and a complete range of products for modernization already in compliance with Europe’s EN 81-70 standard. Headquartered in Milan, GMV has 23 manufacturing locations and partners worldwide. Santosh said they follow a Six Sigma philosophy — a set of techniques and tools for process improvement — that are well adopted in manufacturing processes across all areas.

Santosh is the author of a book, “The Sport S Class Thinking Towards Business Success,” and brought copies of it for M.J. Mohamed Iqbal, managing director of TELME and an ELEVATOR WORLD correspondent in Dubai. Iqbal, describing the book, said sports and business have often been at the opposite ends of the spectrum, but few have connected the two.

A group of TELME’s staff recently got together to applaud Mahir Mohamed and Mohamed Muhsin for their award-winning photos in the EW 2021 photography contest. Holding a flower bouquet in the center are Mahir Mohamed, left, and Mohamed Muhsin, center, who are honored by Iqbal and a number of other leaders and employees during a recent gathering at TELME’s facilities in Dubai.

Iqbal said Santosh has adopted a different approach. His book views the sports world through a management lens and offers valuable teachings to young leaders in management. The book explains how sports can unlock the power of managing and the readers’ passion and purpose. Its perception defines a person, aptitude and attitude, training, team building and SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) that a business will use to study and win when things go wrong, learning from failures and celebrating success. Iqbal said that, as an engineer and an elevator company’s top management executive, Santosh has done wonderful work, and his colleagues should follow some of the information from the book like reading, writing, photography and more. These, Iqbal said, will reduce stress and encourage younger workers to not procrastinate but, rather, do needed things immediately.

Santosh has seen current issues of EW and the EW Middle East editions, and praised the content, especially photography by Mohamed Muhsin and Mahir Mohamed, who have done work for TELME. He said he sees the photos as eye-catching reflections of techniques, and that they should be encouraged to do more. He further said their work with Iqbal at TELME is fortunate for the company’s employees, as it will offer them professional nurturing to build their skills. In reply, Iqbal said he is fortunate and blessed to have a wonderful team that makes TELME’s dedication toward polices and ethics with the main parent company, Toshiba, its main goal.

Santosh offered gratitude to Iqbal for a valuable talk and appreciation, which he said further motivates him in his work efforts. He said that, to him, Iqbal is a treasured mentor. He dedicated his book to underprivileged children.
