thyssenkrupp Delivery Robot, Fleet Vehicle at Auto Shows
Apr 1, 2018
thyssenkrupp delivery systems, including a driverless delivery robot and 2018 Ford Transit Connect fleet vehicle, were showcased at auto shows in the U.S. earlier this year. In January, thyssenkrupp Elevator and software developer TeleRetail GmbH debuted their driverless delivery robot for elevator maintenance (ELEVATOR WORLD, November 2017) in the U.S. at the Washington Auto Show in Washington, D.C. In addition to being on display at the show, the technology was presented as a benchmark product at the “Driving Automotive Innovation and Federal Policies” field hearing of the U.S. Senate, convened by Sen. John Thune (R-South Dakota). thyssenkrupp and TeleRetail believe the cloud-based, driverless systems would help get spare elevator parts from warehouses to technicians faster, which will be increasingly important as urbanization challenges mount.
In February, thyssenkrupp Elevator’s 2018 Ford Transit Connect vehicle was part of the Ford exhibit at the Chicago Auto Show, the oldest and longest-running auto show in North America. Ford brought Transit Connect to the U.S. from Europe in 2010. Since then, the thyssenkrupp fleet, consisting of propane, electric and hybrid vehicles, has “played an important role in helping thyssenkrupp meet its ambitious sustainability goals” and resulted in thyssenkrupp Elevator Americas being recognized by Automotive Fleet as having one of the greenest commercial fleets in the U.S.
