You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby!

“Hardest Part” is a single off Kristen Schaeffer’s album Bluebirds.

Whether they follow their families into the business or strike out on their own, children of elevator-industry people often have bright and exciting lives. Juan Martín Maldecena, son of longtime ELEVATOR WORLD Correspondent Carmen Maldecena and world-renowned theoretical physicist, comes to mind. Now, there is another rising star in our “elevator world”: Kristen Schaeffer, daughter of D&D Elevator President Bobby Schaeffer, recently released her first album, Bluebirds, on iTunes. Influenced by popular singer-songwriters such as Sarah Vaughan and Sara Bareilles, native New Yorker Kristen Schaeffer is pursuing her dream in Los Angeles after working with a producer who has helped such artists as Jason Mraz. Schaeffer has certainly come a long way from the days she and her dad sang duets of Disney tunes to win the elevator industry’s amateur music awards to raise funds for the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation 10 years ago. Check out Kristen’s music at kristenschaeffer.com.
