In Memoriam: Francis “Frank” Ferrara

Ferrara

Francis “Frank” Ferrara, a retired state of Massachusetts elevator inspector, passed away on September 29, 2024, at the age of 70. Ferrara, of Burlington, Massachusetts, became a licensed elevator technician with Otis after serving in the military, including four years during the Vietnam War. He installed and maintained elevators throughout Boston and Southern New Hampshire, gaining a reputation for his detailed knowledge and calm demeanor, “even when working in elevator shafts in skyscrapers in Boston.” After retiring from Otis, Ferrara went to work for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, where he loved to share his expertise and ensure the safety of both the riding public and elevator technicians. He retired for good in 2019. True to his Italian values, Ferrara always put family first. He was a classic car enthusiast who restored numerous vintage Chevrolets. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Fe; sons, Joseph and Christopher; three siblings; and four grandchildren.
