Busy Indian Railway Station Getting New VT and Security

Tatanagar Railway Station, the main railway station serving Jamshedpur, a major industrial city in eastern India, is getting new vertical-transportation (VT) equipment and better security protocols, outlets including The Avenue Mail report. Equipped with six platforms and handling approximately 100 trains each day, Tatanagar Railway Station is getting one new escalator each at platforms 1 and 5, as well as an unspecified number of lifts throughout the facility in 2026. According to the railway administration, the VT equipment “specifically targets the needs of elderly travelers, persons with disabilities and those with heavy luggage.” Among tightened security measures are automated retractable bollards to block unauthorized cars from entering while providing instant access for emergency vehicles.
