The Nuremberg, Germany-based nonprofit association CAN in Automation (CiA) had a booth at interlift in Nuremberg in October, and reports that an increasing number of companies presented their CANOpen Lift products there. In addition, a home lift supplier from the U.A.E. shared a system implementing a CiA 417-based control network system using a host controller from Safeline of Sweden and a position unit from Kuebler of Germany. In its December newsletter, CiA plans to report on some of the CANOpen Lift products it saw at interlift. Founded in 1992, CiA supports and promotes the Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol and related technologies including CANOpen Lift, a communications protocol developed by CiA that enables seamless communication among various elevator components including controllers, drives and indicators.
