A more than CAD245,000 (US$175,886) project to replace an elevator at a three-story apartment building for seniors in Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada, has been completed one month ahead of schedule, thrilling residents who rely on the unit for accessibility, Inside Ottawa Valley reports. The building is owned by the Carleton Municipal Non-Profit Housing Corp., with the board overseeing its operations. Residents, who are aged 65 and older, learned in November 2025 the sole elevator serving their complex had reached the end of its useful life and needed replacement. The original estimate for the work was three months, but it took only two months, starting on January 6 and finishing on March 6, according to the board. “The news highlighted freedom and mobility issues, particularly for the residents of upper-level floors,” the source observed.
