HII Awarded Contract for U.S. Navy Shipboard Elevator Maintenance

HII, formerly Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc., has been awarded a US$418-million contract by Naval Sea Systems Command to repair and maintain shipboard elevators on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and amphibious ships, according to a press release from the company reported on by various news outlets including StreetInsider.com. The five-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract will be carried out by HII's Mission Technologies division, which will provide engineering, maintenance and technical repair support for elevators, cargo-handling equipment and associated systems installed on the vessels. Under the contract, HII's Mission Technologies division will also conduct training for sailors and provide rapid response fly-away teams that deploy globally to handle complex maintenance and repairs. According to RTT News, “The company said the contract builds on more than 40 years of experience through its Elevator Support Unit.”
