Transport for London's (TfL) Cutty Sark Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station, facilitating journeys to and from London's Greenwich town centre, reopened ahead of schedule on March 23 with upgrades that include five Schindler vertical-transportation (VT) units — four escalators and one lift, TfL reports. In addition to the new VT equipment, the modernized station includes new energy-efficient LED lighting, a new fire-detection system, raised ceilings and local artwork. Coming ahead of the busy Easter holiday season and London Marathon, the upgrades are part of TfL's ongoing program to modernize and improve accessibility throughout the network. Prior to its closure, the Cutty Sark station saw approximately 20,000 entries and exits daily.
