In Memoriam: Yee Meng Foo

Yee Meng Foo

Yee Meng Foo, a longtime employee of KONE U.K., passed away on August 26 after a short illness. He was 71. Joining KONE U.K. in 1988, Foo was a design engineer in the late 2000s and early 2010s covering South England, Midland, Wales and Greater London who focused primarily on full replacement. Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Foo grew up working in the family coffee shop and mechanic shop. He traveled to the U.K. to study mechanical engineering, where he met his wife, Soon. He and his wife had two children before moving to Scotland to work for Terex® in 1985. Three years later, he and the family returned to London and Foo rejoined KONE, remaining with the company until he took voluntary redundancy in 2012. He took great pride in his job and enjoyed being part of a close team. “Everything about him — his timekeeping, performance, integrity and attendance — was excellent,” KONE U.K. London and South Regional Director Andrew Todd said, adding that Foo also received an Extra Mile Award from then-Managing Director Michael Williams in 2010.
