In the Lift Engineering Society of Australia’s (LESA) current newsletter, LESA President Scott Hampson reflected on recent issues including code development, events, Australian recognitions and market trends such as AI. He observed the newest edition of CIBSE Guide D has been launched, providing the industry with updated best practices and technical guidance. In October, the industry’s latest innovations were showcased at interlift in Germany. Another recent event was the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat International Conference in Toronto, where two Australian projects were honored: 1 Elizabeth in Sydney (Schindler elevators), Best Tall Building for the Oceania region; and the Sirius redevelopment in Sydney, Best Tall Building Under 100 m. Hampson pointed out that AI is being leveraged in the lift industry for tenders, manuals, design reports and newsletters, and welcomed members’ thoughts on the topic. LESA’s next general meeting is set for November 26 at the Norths Club in Abbot St. Cammeray.
