Otis’ manufacturing facility in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, achieved ISO 14001 certification for environmental management systems, a milestone that “supports the companywide ESG (environmental, social and governance) goal,” Otis announced in July. The OEM is targeting 2025 for all its factories to be ISO 14001-certified, and the Brazil certification brings the worldwide compliance total to more than 80%. Located near São Paulo, the factory spans more than 20,000 m2 and includes a 47-m-tall elevator test tower, technical training center and customer showroom. The site received the certification only six months after beginning the audit process, “a testament to its robust environmental management system” that includes rainwater collection and wastewater reuse systems, LED lighting and changes to shipping and packaging materials.
