Otis tells ELEVATOR WORLD it is providing 10 new vertical-transportation (VT) units for the new Etihad Park Major League Soccer (MLS) stadium taking shape at 126-87 Willets Boulevard in Queens, NY. The VT system consists of five Gen3TM Edge and three Gen3 Peak elevators, and two LinkTM escalators. Home stadium of the NYC Football Club (NYCFC), Etihad Park was designed by HOK and will stand as the centerpiece of a 23-acre redevelopment that includes a 650-seat public school, a hotel and more than 150,000 ft2 of public open space, New York YIMBY reported. Notably, it will be the first fully electric stadium in NYC and in MLS history. A US$20-million, 20-year naming rights agreement with Etihad Airways, the national airline of the U.A.E., set the name of the stadium, which is being entirely privately funded and slated for completion in 2027.
