Otis Smart Cab 2.0 Awarded Two Red Dot Design Awards

The Otis Smart Cab 2.0 has been honored with two Red Dot Product Design Awards for 2026, recognizing excellence for both the integrated elevator system and its innovative modular ceiling solution. The next-generation elevator cab integrates AI, sensing technologies, Internet of Things connectivity and biometric recognition to deliver an immersive, multi-sensory experience tailored to a building’s unique architecture and brand identity — and to the individual passenger. The Smart Cab 2.0’s award-winning modular ceiling solution allows architects to precisely tailor the elevator experience. Built on a flexible 3×3 modular grid, it enables customizable configurations, including dynamic ambient lighting, air purification, and the ability to integrate fragrance. Other options include short-focus projection technology to display real-time information directly onto elevator doors and floors, such as information about building amenities, as well as an AI-equipped camera that monitors the cab and provides contextual voice messages based on real-time activity in the cab. The Otis Smart Cab 2.0 debuted at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in November 2025. It builds on the success of the original Otis Smart Cab concept elevator, which won a Red Dot Product Design Award in 2024.
