Otis To Provide Nearly 500 Escalators for Shanghai Metro

Otis announced on January 22 it has been selected to provide 498 heavy-duty Public escalators to Shanghai Metro Line 19, a new 46-km line featuring 34 stations. Chen Kang, Otis senior vice president, New Equipment & Modernization, China, said the award builds on a longstanding partnership with the Shanghai Metro. "Line 19 is a vital addition to Shanghai's transit network, and our heavy-duty Public escalators are designed, tested, manufactured and installed to provide safe, reliable service for millions of daily riders," Kang observed. Equipped with sensors that collect data on vibration, temperature and displacement to enable real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance and swift incident response, Otis' Public escalators are designed for maximum uptime in high-traffic environments. Otis has nearly 3,000 elevators and escalators across numerous lines of the Shanghai Metro.
