Thousands of pedestrians who traverse the stretch between Bandra Station (East) and Kalanagar Junction on the Western Express Highway in Mumbai, India, are enjoying a safer and smoother commute thanks to a reconstructed skywalk outfitted with two escalators, The Times of India reports. The 680-m elevated link provides easy access to key destinations including the Bandra Kurla Complex, Bandra Court, Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority offices and the District Collector’s office. The new escalators support senior citizens, children and parents pushing strollers by reducing physical strain during the long walk. The 5.40-m-wide skywalk also features four staircases for easy entry and 14 new surveillance cameras to enhance safety. Construction was completed on time despite heavy highway traffic, the source said.
