ELEVATOR REPLACEMENTS PART OF SOUTH KOREAN PROGRAM FOR AGING APARTMENTS

Elevator replacements are part of a government program in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, aimed at improving safety and accessibility at 118 aging multi-unit apartment complexes, The Asia Business Daily reports. Funding is through the province’s Residential Environment Improvement and Safety Faculty Support Project, and applications started being processed in April. As of now, applications are still being accepted for elevator replacements in Gwangmyeong City and Namyangju City, which have not yet met their quotas for this work. Additionally, the province is accepting applications for fire-safety enhancements from all of its 31 cities and counties, which will come from a remaining budget of KRW30 million (US$20,403).
