Regina-Based Abco Elevator Receives Provincial Safety Award

Abco Elevator, headquartered in Regina, Canada, recently received the 2021 Corporate Leadership in Safety Award from the Saskatchewan Construction Safety Association (SCSA). The award recognizes individuals, companies and organizations that have promoted SCSA’s mission of “constructing safety leadership” and “creating the safest construction environment in Canada.” Describing the honor as “an enormous privilege,” Abco CEO Lonnie Mackenzie said his company, through its UpLift Learning subsidiary, recently developed an online training program for first responders called to elevator entrapments. Since it is online, Responder Elevator Training (RET) Level 1 is available to fire and rescue personnel anywhere in North America. “With today’s pandemic concerns and budgetary restrictions, RET Level 1 is an innovation solution to a safety training gap,” Mackenzie said.
