One Chicago Square’s Mixed-Used Skyscrapers Pass Halfway Mark
Construction on the 74- and 49-story mixed-use towers comprising One Chicago Square (ELEVATOR WORLD, April 2020) at 1 West Chicago Avenue reached the halfway mark in October. JDL is the developer and Goettsch Partners and Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture are the designers of the US$850-million project near where River North, the Magnificent Mile and the Gold Coast meet. The development’s 735 apartments will fill the shorter tower, parts of the taller tower and a six-story podium, and the taller tower will include an additional 77 condominium units. One Chicago Square will also house 188,000 ft2 of retail, 55,000 ft2 of office space and amenities including a fitness center, a restaurant and a large rooftop deck. Power Construction is the general contractor, and completion is scheduled in 2022.
